Festive Season

The Wyke Down is the place to be this Christmas & New Year.

We have special Party Nights on Fridays 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd December for £38.50 per person, which includes a DJ. See our Christmas Menu for details.

Quiz Nights are monthly on a Thursday with a cash prize. Your quiz entrance fee of £13 also includes a hot buffet. See our Events section for the next quiz date.

Our Famous Carvery is served on Sundays between 12pm and 3pm.

The Wyke Down

The Wyke Down is a food-focused country pub on the outskirts of Andover, offering a relaxed family friendly service at a reasonable price.

The early nineteenth-century barn has been extensively but sympathetically extended to provide a pub with an historical country feel, whilst offering an open modern experience.

We have plenty of space indoors and outdoors, a large fenced garden with a children's play area, plenty of benches and we also have a huge covered decking area.

We are open Wednesday to Sunday and serve lunch and dinner each day, except Sundays 12pm to 3pm when we serve our famous carvery menu.

Places to Visit

Downton Abbey lies just 10 miles from the Wyke Down in the form of Highclere Castle where fans of the TV Show can take tours, see the costumes, go behind the scenes and much more. For gin lovers the home of Bombay Sapphire Gin, with its Thomas Heatherwick designed glass house, can be found at Laverstoke just 6 miles away where a range of tours plus cocktail masterclasses are available. Fishing at Rooksbury Mill.

Walking & Cycling

The Wyke Down sits on the southern edge of the North Wessex Downs, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty popular with walkers and cyclists. The St Mary Bourne to Longparish section of the Test Way passes within a few hundred metres of the Wyke Down as it crosses the Walworth Road. Test Valley Borough Council provide many maps and resources for walkers and cyclists including this map of walking and cycling routes around Andover.

For the Kids

Plenty to do for the kids near the Wyke Down. Finkley Down Farm has indoor and outdoor play areas for different age ranges including animal handling and feeding activities. The Hawk Conservancy Trust offers activities from flying displays, getting up close with birds of prey or even flying a Harris Hawk yourself. Other activities include TreeRunners, Museum of the Iron Age and the Army Flying Museum.

Located 3 miles north east of Andover on the Walworth Road

Just 3 miles from St Mary Bourne, 4 miles from Whitchurch, 9 miles from Overton, 15 miles from Newbury, 16 miles from Basingstoke, 23 miles from Marlborough and 29 miles from Southampton, the Wyke Down Country Pub and Restaurant is located on the southern edge of the North Wessex Downs, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

From Andover

Head out of Andover via the Crossways and at the Folly Roundabout take the third exit onto the A3057 signposted for Stockbridge. At the Enham Arch Roundabout take the third exit for the A3093 (Churchill Way) signposted for Picket Piece. At the Walworth Roundabout take the first exit onto the Walworth Road signposted for Picket Piece. Continue on the Walworth Road through the Walworth Road Industrial Area and then through Picket Piece. The Wyke Down pub and restaurant is on your left shortly after passing the brown roadsign for Wyke Down camping.

From Whitchurch

Leaving Whitchurch on Bell Street, continue under the railway arch and onto Bloswood Lane. Continue on under a railway bridge and under the A34. The road bears left onto Haroway, under another railway arch and continues on, becoming the Walworth Road towards Andover. The Wyke Down pub and restaurant is on your right shortly after passing a brown sign for Wyke Down camping.

From the A34 Northbound

Travelling North on the A34 leave at the junction for Overton (A3400), Whitchurch and Tufton then stay on the slip road as it passes under the A34 then bears left and becoming Winchester St heading into Whitchurch. At the roundabout in Whitchurch take the second exit onto Bell Street then follw the directions from Whitchurch.

From the A34 Southbound

Travelling South on the A34 leave at the junction signposted for Whitchurch and once on the slip road carry straight on ignoring the turning for Lichfield. Follow the road towards Whitchurch until a cross roads turning right signposted for St Mary Bourne and Vitacress. Follow this road until reaching a T-junction turning right onto the main road signposted for St Mary Bourne. Follow this road passing under a railway bridge becoming the Walworth Road towards Andover. The Wyke Down pub and restaurant is on your right shortly after passing a brown sign for Wyke Down camping.
